The Sanskriti Pratishthan invites applications from young artists who want to contribute to the enrichment of Indian Classical Music and Dance for its annual Smt. Madhabi Chatterji Memorial Fellowship in Indian Classical Music and Dance. The Sanskriti Pratishthan has given similar awards and fellowships for performing arts. For the past 30 years, they have been managing the scheme. They appreciate candidates for being active in cultural events too.

 Madhobi-Chatterji Fellowship

 

Aim

The goal is to encourage promising young artists to reach their full potential. To perfect their skills by providing them with resources and time to devote to their craft. The Fellowship comes with a Rs 100,000/- grant.

 

Eligibility

Any Indian National from any genre of Indian Classical Music (Vocal or Instrumental) Dance is eligible for the Fellowship (any form or choreography). Proposals that advance the program’s objectives are welcome. The candidate should have at least some formal training in classical music or dance. The fellow must have at least 2-3 solo performances under his or her belt.

The candidate will get advice from a source that is not available to him/her to improve his/her current style. It can be a residency program for at least three months, which can spread out over ten months.



How to Apply

  • Candidates should submit a two-page CV
  • a CD of their recitals
  • a 500-word essay explaining their project.
  • The project should explain how they will allow them to express their creativity.  While also expanding their style repertoire.
  • The Following things should be there in the application
  1. contact details
  2. postal or telephone contact
  3. e-mail address
  • A small number of samples of previous work or performances is necessary to be submitted. The names and contact information of the two referees should also be sent. 
  • Further mail the application form.
  • When mailing, the name ‘Sanskriti – Madhobi Chatterji Memorial Fellowship’ is to be written on the envelope.

 

Required Documents

  • Candidates must send the following documents along with their application form:
  • A current CV (curriculum vitae) that is no more than two pages long.
  • A CD of their recitals/performances (Video files if sent via email).
  • A report that should explain their project proposal. The article should not be longer than 500 words.
  • Several examples of previous work (More than two).
  • Names and contact information for two references




Selection Process

Once the application is received, it will be reviewed by a panel of experts. The most deserving candidates will be chosen based on their previous experience and work samples. Candidates chosen for this fellowship will be contacted and invited to accept it. The fellowship benefits will be available to the selected candidates.

 

Terms

The Fellowship will be for ten months. The Rs. 1,00,000 grant will be distributed in two installments. The first installment of Rs 50,000/- will be paid at the start of the program. And a brief mid-term progress report will be required.

 

The second installment will be made after the completion of the project report. And the fellow may be asked to give a recital.

Agreement

The applicant must sign an agreement about a consistent flow of work during that period. At the same time, the candidate should not be holding another Fellowship. Also, candidates should not be working on any other project.

All candidates should send their CV and a brief of their project proposal to the Head Office. And in the subject line if emailed to fellowships@sanskritifoundation.org. This Fellowship helps students to grow their talents.  Also as improving their social skills.

Applications for the following year’s fellowship are accepted all year.
