An outline of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS)

Indian Knowledge System (IKS) is a division of the Ministry of Education (MoE) at AICTE, New Delhi. The objective of the IKS is to spread the rich heritage and traditional knowledge of our country in various fields. 

IKS guides and analyze subject-wise interdisciplinary research groups. It also incorporates more researchers from institutes, centers, and individuals. 


New Launch on IKS

All India Council for Technical Education has announced the new launch of the textbook on IKS. As per the exhortation of the National Education Policy (NEP) the new higher education curriculum has been rolled out to emphasize IKS. 

The Union Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched a new Textbook on 16th May 2022.


About Textbook


The new textbook has been initiated with standards. All India Council for Technical Education has declared that It is a mandatory non-credit course on IKS. The new textbook was introduced to Engineering and Science Students. 

It includes ancient languages such as Sanskrit, Vedas, and Puranas. It is also a part of astronomy, architecture, ancient science, engineering, and town planning. The English textbook contains 417-pages with a cost of Rs.795.


Authors and Co-authors of Textbook


In Cooperative with SVYASA Yoga Institute, Bengaluru, and Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth, Ernakulam, The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has progressed a module and composed a textbook. A Board of experts has examined the textbook and introduced it. 

A new textbook has been named “Introduction to Indian Knowledge System concepts and applications”. The author of the textbook is B Mahadevan. He is a professor at IIM Bangalore and founding vice-chancellor of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth.

The textbook was created with the contribution of co-authors. Co-authors are Vinayak Rajat Bhat, associate professor at the Center for IKS, Chanakya University, Bengaluru, and Nagendra Pavana R N, with the school of Vedic Knowledge Systems at the Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth, Ernakulam.
