Kishore vaigyanik protsahan Yojana (KVPY Exam) is an scholarship national program in basic sciences, initiated and funded by the department of science and technology government of India and also encourage students of basic science to make research careers in science.
Kishore vaigyanik protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2021-22 is a national level test program started in 1999 by the department of science and technology (DST)
KVPY consists two types of test: online aptitude test and interview
The objective of this program is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research, help them to identify their academic potential, and encourage them to make a research career in science.
Under the program all the eligible students are offered scholarships and contingency grants until the pre-PhD level.
All candidates must make sure to fulfil all KVPY eligibility criteria before applying for the KVPY scholarship program
The KVPY Exam has three streams
SA: student pursuing science and currently in class 11th
SX: student pursuing science and currently in class 12th
SB: student pursuing a program in Basic science and currently in the first year of graduation.
Candidates who have done basic sciences in SA/SX/SB- during the first and third year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math will be granted monthly fellowship of Rs. 5000 and Annual contingency of Rs. 20,000.
Those who pursue basic sciences in SA/SX/SB- during M.Sc./ 4th to 5th years of integrated M.Sc./M.S./M.Stat/M.Math will be granted a monthly fellowship of Rs. 7000 and an annual contingency of Rs. 28,000.

KVPY Exam Eligibility criteria 2022
The Kishore vaigyanik protsahan yojana, KVPY eligibility includes the academic criteria of each stream, category , and age. The lower age at which the student can apply for the KVPY exam SA stream is 16 years old. 17 years is for the SX stream and 18 years is the age limit for the candidates who want to apply for the SB stream.
The candidates will be able to successfully appear for the aptitude test if they meet the required KVPY eligibility criteria which are set according to a different stream.
The KVPY exam criteria for different stream:
For stream SA:
The candidates who have studied science in XI standard in the academic year of 2021 are eligible enough to apply for this test
After applying for the test, the candidates who scored at least 75% marks in aggregate in science and Maths subjects in X standard board examination in the previous year are eligible enough for the aptitude test. A cut off of 65% aggregate has to be scored by the candidate in the science and mathematics subjects in the case of candidates belonging to SC, ST or PWD.
It is required that the students should score 60% marks in total in science subject in XII standard board examination whereas it is 50% for the students who are SC/ST/PWD
During the first one year the students will be invited to the national science camp (vijyoshi). The KVPY sponsors the travelling and other expenses of each student.
For stream SX:
Students who have enrolled for the XII standard in science subject in the academic year of 2021-22 and the one who are aspiring to join the undergraduate program in basic science such as in physics, chemistry, biology or mathematics which leads to B.Sc, B.S, B.Stat, B.Math or Int. M.Sc or Int. M.S for the session of 2021-22 provided that they score at least 75% marks in total in science subjects and mathematics in X standard board examination during the academic year of 2018-2019 are eligible to appear for the aptitude test for the KVPY scholarship
According to the KVPY eligibility criteria for the year 2021 students must score 75% marks in class 10 while SC/ST/PWD students who have scored 65% in total for the science and mathematics subjects are eligible
For stream SB:
The candidates who are studying in the first year of UG course in basic science such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology which leads to B.Sc/ B.S/ B.Stat/B.Math Int M.Sc or Int M.S in the academic year of 2021-22 can appear for this exam
In the first year final examination of B.Sc/B.S/B.Stat/B.Math Int M.Sc Int M.S, the candidates have to obtain 60% in general category and 50% marks for the SC, ST or PWD category respectively.

How to fill an online KVPY Exam form?
This is for the first time users. If the students has already registered themselves in the KVPY official website then he/she can directly proceed to step 2
Step 1
Go to KVPY official website by clicking on the highlighted word
Read all the instruction given on the page and click on the right hand side tab named KVPY Alumni Registration
A new page will be shown on the screen named Registration form
Fill all the details carefully on the registration form, fill the captcha code, and click on ‘I Agree button’.
Now, verify all the details and click on the registration button.
Login credential will be sent on the same number and Email ID which is registered in the KVPY registration form.
Step 2– Students will be able to fill the KVPY application form by following steps:
Go to the KVPY official page and enter Login ID and Password in the appropriate field. Click on the login button
Click on the application option which is located in orange colour ribbon in official page of KVPY
Enter personal details in the first section, and academic details in the next section
Upload proper documents one by one
Save all the documents
KVPY application fee payment
Review your form and proceed to payment
Students can pay their KVPY online application form fee online via credit card/ debit card/ Net banking

KVPY Exam Preparation tips
Candidates must read the whole syllabus without skipping any topic
Students must practice previous year question paper and sample papers as many time as they can
They also practice the mock test provided by the KVPY which allow them to experience the exam pattern
Revise all the topic a month before the exam
Prepare a proper time table to study and take a proper breaks in between to keep your mind fresh and active
Students preparing for competitive exams like Jee/ Neet need not separately prepare KVPY as the syllabus is the same. They can easily go through the KVPY exam.
