The Ashtavakra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences and Research is dedicated to developing specialized human resources for people with special needs and conducting rehabilitation research to benefit people with disabilities. Since 2006, the institution has hosted national and international conferences while also working on a larger-scale community-based rehabilitation program encompassing the entire geographical area of North-West Delhi and hosting monthly rehabilitation camps.
The Ashtavakra Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences and Research is the first self-funded Institute in North India to offer bachelor’s degrees in audiology and speech pathology (B.A.S.L.P. Programme). The Institute provides students with special education courses at the diploma (D.Ed Special Education) and degree levels (B.Ed Special Education-Mental Retardation and Hearing Impairment) and practical experience.

D.Ed requires a 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board of education in any stream with a minimum of 50% marks (Special Education). National Board of Rehabilitation Examiners Online Aptitude Test for the Entire Country (A.I.O.A.T. Qualified) (NBER).
