(Meta tag)  GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It was estabilished in 1983. This test is known for testing the knowledge of various subjects encountered in undergraduate courses. GATE is required for admission into masters program or public sector jobs.

What are the requirements for GATE?

GATE’s eligibility is different for different qualifying degree. Mostly the candidate which have completed 4 years of their course or fully completed their course are eligible for the GATE exam.

What are the jobs after passing GATE?

After successfully passing GATE, The candidates are considerable by more than 200 Public Sector Undertakings including BHEL, Hindustan Petroleum, Indian Oil, NTPC, SAIL etc.

What are the two parts of GATE exam?

GATE exam consists of two sections covering GATE syllabus. First section and second section makes 60:25 respectively. Section A is compulsory  for every candidate, Section B contains two optional sections which are allowed to opt during the exam.

What is GATE cut off?

Well GATE’s cut off is different every year but for upcoming year 2022 its expected to be (in Marks) :

For general cateogory-

  1. Physics : 30 – 32

  2. Chemistry: 32 – 35

  3. Life sciences: 30 – 35

  4. Chemical Engineering : 30 – 34

  5. Computer science : 23 – 26

  6. Mechanical engineering : 30 – 32

For SC / ST / PWD –

  2. Chemistry: 22 – 24

  3. Life sciences: 20 – 25

For OBC –

With reference to the 2022 registration data GATE notification release around August, Registrations start from September and provides around 4 weeks for the registration like registrations started for 2nd september and ended on 30th september in 2021. If any candidate register for GATE but gets late in application submission then he or she can submit the application within one week of the last date but he or she have to pay additional late fee of 500 rupees.

So at last we can say that GATE exam is a well known examination which gets considered by the PSU’s held by government for employment of applicating individuals. Like many other exams GATE’s cut off goes different for different cateogories. Registrations for GATE starts from around september and provides four weeks time to candidates for registration and another week’s time for registered candidates who did not submit their application but that too with a late application fee of 500.
