Solution:Anatomy is the branch of science that deals with the study of the internal structure of plants. The study of the anatomy of plants helps us in the study of the structure of plants and their adaptations to the surrounding environment. It also helps in the identification of monocots, dicots, angiosperms, and gymnosperms. This study also helps in identifying the economic importance of different plant products and helps in identifying new plant species. For determining the age of trees, the anatomy of plants is also studied by experts.
Anatomy of plants
Meristematic Tissues
Growth in plants occurs in specialized regions of active cell division called meristems.Plants contain different kinds of meristems. The meristems present at the root tips and shoot tips and form primary tissues are known as apical meristems.
The meristem present between mature tissues is called an intercalary meristem. They are found in grasses and regenerate parts removed by the grazing organisms.
Permanent Tissues
Permanent tissues formed of similar cells having the same structure and function are known as simple tissues and tissues formed of different types of cells are known as complex tissues.
Simple tissues are formed by only one type of cells. It includes parenchyma, collenchyma and sclerenchyma
Complex tissues are formed by more than one type of cells. It includes xylem and phloem
