Solution: Monocots and dicots can be differentiated as follows:
Dicot plants have two cotyledons in their seeds whereas monocots are characterized by the presence of a single cotyledon
Dicot plants have reticulate venation and monocot plants have parallel venation in their leaves.
Vascular bundles of dicots are arranged in a ring whereas that of monocots are scattered.
Dicot plants have mostly non-endospermic seeds but monocot plants have endospermic seeds.
Dicots may have tap roots, adventitious roots or both. Monocots, however, bear adventitious roots only.
Dicots mostly have woody stems but monocot stems are herbaceous and soft.
