Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) was established in 1905 at Pusa, Bihar. It is commonly known as Pusa Institute. This institute had started with the help of an American philanthropist, Mr. Henry Phipps. Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) was the name of the institute at the time, and it included five departments: agriculture, cattle breeding, chemistry, economic botany, and mycology. In 1907, a bacteriology section was added.
In 1911, ARI was renamed to Imperial Institute of Agricultural Research, and in 1919, it was renamed again to Imperial Agricultural Research Institute. The institute was relocated to Delhi on July 29, 1936, following a catastrophic earthquake on January 15, 1934. After independence, the institute was renamed Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

For admission in IARI PG courses, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in a related subject with 50% minimum score. A student seeking admission to IARI’s Ph.D. programs must have a master’s degree in a discipline related to the desired course.
IARI PG Courses Admission
MSc: For IARI MSc admission, students must obtain a BSc degree with a 50% minimum score. This session will take two years to complete.
M-Tech: The student’s B-Tech or BE degree marks determine his or her admission to M-Tech courses in any specialty. This professional degree program also requires an admission exam.
MBA: Students who hold a bachelor’s degree in the related field are eligible to get admission to this course. This session will take two years to complete.
IARI Ph.D. Courses Admission
Ph.D.: At IARI, you can get a Ph.D. in a number of subjects. Students must hold an MSc or M-Tech degree in the corresponding study field to be eligible for Ph.D. studies. Both the entrance exam result and the preceding academic score are taken into account when making a decision.
