Introduction

Smt. Indira Gandhi, former Minister of Information and Broadcasting, launched the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in 1965. The IIMC Society is an autonomous organization formed under the Societies Registration Act of 1867 and it is in charge of it. Its main campus is in New Delhi, and it has branches in 

  • Dhenkanal, Odisha, 

  • Aizawl, and Mizoram.

  • Maharashtra’s Amravati

  • Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir

  • Kerala’s Kottayam

It is the Indian Information Service‘s training academy. It offers several Postgraduate Diploma Courses in Journalism in English, Hindi, and Regional Languages as well as courses in television and radio journalism, marketing, and public relations. It has a strong placement record and was ranked 1st. 

The University Grants Commission has given IIMC a Letter of Intent to become a Deemed to be University, under the De Novo category during the following three years, based on the Ministry of Human Resource Department’s recommendations.

Admission Process

An applicant must first take a written test to be considered for admission to IIMC’s PG Diploma Programs. This test will assess the candidate’s knowledge of national and international issues, aptitude, language proficiency, and other factors.

Those who pass the written exam are rated according to their course and category. They’ll then appear for Group Discussions where they will be given a topic of discussion to evaluate their communication skills.

The third round will be an interview, in which judges will interact with students to assess their understanding of common topics.

What is the procedure for applying?

  1. Candidates must complete an online admission form

 accessible at www.iimc.gov.in and pay the entrance examination fee through the website’s online portal.

  1. Candidates can apply for different courses separately. Separate forms must be completed for each Course.

  2. Candidates that submit their applications

 successfully will be given a unique registration number (URN).

  1. This URN will be used to download the admit card.

  2. Candidates must take a 75-point written examination.

  3. NRI students are not required to take the written entrance exam.

  4. Selected candidates must participate in a 10-point group discussion and a 15-point interview.

  5. Candidates are provisionally admitted to each course based on the merit list generated from the 100 marks of the 3 tests combined.

  6. The merit-cum-preference system is used to assign centers.

  7. Candidates that are chosen are given seven days to submit their fees.

Infrastructure IIMC Delhi

It also offers a newspaper clipping service to its subscribers, which includes a full record of news items as well as prominent essays on mass communication published in a variety of major professional journals and magazines.
