About NIFT Exam 2022

NIFT stands for National Institute of Fashion Technology. As the name suggests, NIFT is a fashion institute that conducts the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Exam to recruit students in BDes, BFTech, MDes, MFTech, and MFM courses. Around 23000 students took this exam in 2022. Around 16 Fashion Colleges accept the NIFT exam scores which are conducted across 32 Indian cities.

NIFT Exam 2022: Registration

To apply for the exam, students must register themselves on the official website NIFT. Students will need a scanned passport-sized photo, scanned signature and DOB proof IDs or certificates while filling out the application form.

 

Students need to pay a fee of Rs 3000 to complete their registration. The application fee is Rs 1500 for SC/ST, OBC and other minority category students. Applicants can pay the fee via credit card, debit card or net banking. 

NIFT Exam 2022: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the NIFT exam are as follows:

  1. For the Bachelor of Design (BDes):

  • Students need to score 50% in CAT and 50% in GAT.

 

  1. For the Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFTech):

  • Students need to score 100% on the GAT.

 

  1. For the Master of Design (MDes) course:

  • Students need to score 40% in CAT, 30% in GAT and 30% in Online Interview.

  1. For the Master of Fashion Technology (MFTech) course:

  • Students need to score 70% on the GAT and 30% on the Online Interview.

 

  1. For the Master of Fashion Management (MFM) course:

  • Students need to score 70% on the GAT and 30% on the Online Interview.

NIFT Exam 2022: Syllabus

The NIFT entrance exam syllabus for GAT is:

  • General knowledge and current affairs

  • Case Study

The CAT Syllabus for the NIFT Entrance exam is:

NIFT Exam 2022: Cut-Off

The cut-off for the NIFT exam is made on the following parameters:

  • The total number of students appearing for the NIFT entrance exam in 2022.

  • The Total number of students who have already cleared the NIFT exam.

  • The difficulty level of the NIFT exam paper.

  • The total number of seats available for admissions.

  • Overall performance of students in the NIFT exam.

  • Previous years’ NIFT exam’s cutoff marks.

 

Students clearing the cut-off marks and passing the exam will be eligible for participating in the counselling session that will decide their seat allotments based on their NIFT exam marks.

NIFT Exam 2022: Results

NIFT will declare the results in the second week of March on their official website. The final Merit List for BDes will be declared in the third week of June. The final Merit List for MDes, MFTech, and MFM will be declared in the third week of July. 

 

Students must log in to their registered accounts on the official website of NIFT. Students can download their scorecards which they’ll need during the counselling. (if they qualify for the exam)

NIFT Exam 2022: Counselling

The NIFT Counselling will be done online. Students need to check the NIFT website for updates on the date and time. Students need to show some documents for document verification. The documents required are

  • 10th and 12th-grade mark sheets.

  • NIFT exam scorecard.

  • Undergraduate degree (for students pursuing PG courses)

  • Family Income Certificate 

  • Transfer Certificate (if any)

  • Caste Certificate (applicable only to students from Karnataka)

  • A hard copy of the application form.
