As announced by the institute on Wednesday, IIT Madras has made its computer science courses available to the general public. The institute portal is currently designed in a way that permits students, Educational Institutions, and anyone else to access the courses. The candidates can apply for free online courses offered by IIT Madras by visiting the official portal at nsm.iitm.ac.in/cse/. The purpose of this initiative is to contribute to a better quality of life for rural Indians.
The site is made of courses on data structure, computer organization, algorithms, as well as programming. The live recordings of lectures conducted during the pandemic period are also there on Youtube. About this initiative, Professor. C. Chandra Sekhar, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) in IIT Madras said that It is also believed that the recordings of live lectures for CSE core courses will be helpful to the scholars at the undergraduate level and the graduate level in Engineering Colleges to learn the underlying concepts and principles of the subjects of these courses in the right manner.
He also said that this page will also be helpful for the lecturers of Engineering Colleges to get to know effective teaching methods for important and fundamental subjects in Computer Science and Engineering and also helpful for the improvement of students’ problem-solving skills. It is hoped that the portal will be used to improve the quality of teaching and learning of the CSE core subjects in Engineering Colleges in India.
As a part of an ongoing process of the website, the department seeks to add more content that will attract users. The Department of CSE at IIT Madras also plans to host live tutorial sessions where senior students will answer their doubts. Participating students can also attend quizzes on the Portal to assess how well they know the courses as part of this start-up process. The department plans to create random quizzes to assess students. Having all these elements together will make learning the course much easier.
