The process in which transactions are posted from the journal book to the ledger is known as posting from the journal.
We can also say that it is the grouping of different transactions of the same account at one place.
Posting can be done daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly from journal books.
Posting is done as per the need and requirements of the business entity.
Following are the steps involved in the process of posting:-
Finding in the ledger:- Account to be debited or credited as per the journal
Date:- date of the transaction is mentioned
Particular:- Account through which it has been debited or credited is written here.
For example – journal entry passed is — CASH A/C dr
To FURNITURE A/C
And we want to prepare the furniture column, then in the ledger of furniture A/C cash A/C will be written on the credit side as – BY CASH A/C.
