Solution- In the given case study observation method is used by the doctor to observe and record children’s play behaviour at a nursery school without attempting to influence or control the behaviour.

The observation method as the name makes it very obvious, it include observing the behaviour of an individual or group. It can be participant observation where the researcher becomes part of the group and then observes the subject while the researcher can also adopt the non-participant method of observation in which they can use a CCTV camera to observe.

Merits and demerits are as follows-

Merits

Demerits

  1. It enables the researcher to study the behaviour in a naturalistic setting

  1. Its very time consuming and labour intensive.

  1. It’s prone to observer bias. And require specialisation.
