The poem “The snake trying” is written by W.W.E. Ross. The whole poem demonstrates the struggle of a snake after being hit by a stick. The stick was held by a person who tried to kill the snake and the snake was striving hard to get out of its life-threatening situation. The poet wants to convey that not all snakes are venomous. Humans have this false belief that snakes are harmful and hence they run after their life any moment. The poet says that these wrongdoings should be eradicated irrespective of whether the snake is hazardous or not. In the described scenario, the green-coloured snake hides behind the green bushes in order to save itself.

The poet describes another story in which the snake was lying peacefully on some waterbody-like a pond. All of sudden, a human gets to see a glimpse of this snake. In no time, the human runs after it with a stick to kill it immediately. Sensing some danger, the snake struggles to save its life and hence makes sudden curves in its body to escape from the approaching attack. The snake saves itself through slithering in the pond. The snake moves through with the aim of saving itself. This is a natural thing for any animal to do. Any animal sensing the danger would try to protect itself from the approaching attack. It shows that the poet has sympathy for the snakes. Furthermore, the author pleads with the pursuer to let it escape and leave it unharmed. The poet requests the humans to not run after their life. He wants to let the snake escape without causing any harm. It shows the affectionate behavior of the poet towards the poor creatures. This affection is something that every human must-have. He says that the snake is green in color. Furthermore, the author says that the snake is small in size. Also, according to the author, the snake is non-toxic even to kids.

As it turns out, the pursuer does not pay attention to the poet’s request. Furthermore, the pursuer continues with his chase of the snake. One can see the resemblance with a persistent evil person here. No matter how many times one asks an evil person to stop, the evil person relentlessly carries on his evil act.  While this chasing was going on, the snake escaped the danger in the ripples among the green slim reeds. As such, the snake disappeared and the chase came to an end. The snake hid in the bushes of the marshy plants. The snake had the advantage of the camouflaging bushes that were green in color. Most noteworthy, the snake was able to save its life.
