Tata Institute of Fundamental Research which is also called it with its initials TIFR. It is a National Research Center of the Government of India, under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic energy, as well as a prestigious University awarding degrees for masters and doctoral programs. TIFR was founded in 1945 with support from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust under the vision of Dr. Homi Bhabha. TIFR carries out basic research in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Science Education.TIFRs main campus is located in Mumbai, with centers at Pune, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. 


TIFR GS is an entrance exam that is conducted by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) itself. In order to provide admission to candidates in Postgraduate Science courses offered by the Institute. TIFR GS offers admission in 5 – year integrated M.Sc courses and Ph.D. programs.

TIFR Eligibility Criteria –

The eligibility criteria are the initial and basic steps that should be followed by you before appearing in the exam. The TIFR Eligibility Criteria is different for all the courses. 


  • No age criteria to appear in the TIFR GS Exam.


  • MInimum 60% aggregate marks required.


  • The candidate should be Indian.


  • The candidate should be a Graduate or pursuing a final year of graduation from a recognized institute.

Syllabus –


The Exam will be conducted into 5 major subjects – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science and System Science. The Authority had prescribed an elaborate syllabus for all subjects.

Application Fee –


Male – INR 1200/-


Female INR 600/-

The Fee for the Exam form can be paid via Internet Banking/Debit/Credit Card/ UPI Payment Gateway.


Admit Card –


The institute body will release the admit card a few days before the examination schedule. It will be the entry pass to appear in the exam. Firstly, you have to go to the official website and click on the students’ login button. Enter your login credentials and click on the “login button”; admit card will appear on the screen, then you can “download” it.

Result and Counseling –

The result of the written test will be declared in an online mode wherein candidates can check their TIFR GS result on the official website of the Institute with their username and password, and download the scorecard. It contains information section-wise and overall scores and candidates’ All India Rank.

After clearing the written test, candidates will be called for the final round which is the Interview. Candidates passing this round will then be eligible to secure admission in their respective courses based on merit.
