The National Eligibility Test (NET) is one of the most popular national-level tests conducted twice every year. It is organized on the behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC) by the National Testing Agency (NAT)

  • Along with determining the eligibility of postgraduates for Assistant Professorship, Junior Research Fellowship, or both, the postgraduates who want to do a Ph.D. also have to give the UGC-NET now.

Who all are Eligible?

  • Postgraduates belonging to the General category with a minimum of 55% marks can apply. 

  • Postgraduates belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PwD/ Transgender category need a minimum of 50% marks to apply.


   NOTE: A candidate should not exceed the age of 31 years to apply ONLY for JRF.


Mode of Examination:

The mode of examination is online for the candidates. It is a Computer Based Test 

(CBT) taken at various centers.


How to Apply?

  1. Eligible candidates have to register on the UGC-NET Portal.

  2. Check the recent events for the notification.

  3. Click on the given link to apply.

  4. Fill in the required credentials on the page.

  5. Upload scanned photograph and the signature.

  6. Click on submit and proceed for payment.

  7. Complete the application by paying the fee through Net Banking, UPI, Credit Card/ Debit Card, and Paytm Wallet.

The registered candidates can download their admit card by following the given steps:

  • Admit card can be downloaded using any of the two ways:

  1. Using Application Number and DOB.

  2. Using Application Number and Password.

  • Fill in the required credentials and download your admit card.

To check the Results:

The result for all the modes of MAT is declared on the same day. The candidate who gave the test can check the results by:

  • Open the official site to check the result.

  • Click on the result link on the homepage.

  • Fill in the required credentials and submit.

  • Check the result with full hope.


E- Certificates:

The NET-qualified candidates can download their e-certificates from the following links by filling in the credentials.

  • The candidate needs to click on the link to download their achievement certificate.


Vast Syllabus:

The syllabus for the different subjects can be checked from the official website. You just have to download it and save it on your device and prepare accordingly.


Here are some preparation tips for you:

  • To qualify for the test, you need to be thorough with your subject.

  • Everyday reading of the newspaper and the current affairs is mandatory.

  • Solving previous year’s papers is also equally important.
