UGC NET exam: Extended deadline for application and fees payment

UGC NET: Announced that the last date for apllication forms and the payment of fees has been extended

UGC NET Exam

UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET is the examination for identifying the eligibility for the place of assistant professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship award in Indian universities and colleges. The examination is done via the National Testing Agency on behalf of the University Grants Commission.


Previous Deadline

The enlistment cycle for UGC NET 2022 began at noon on April 20. Prior, the last date for applying for UGC NET 2022 was May twentieth.


Extended Deadline

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has lengthened the web-based application period to the University Grants Commission’s National Test of Eligibility  (UGC NET) for the December 2021 and June 2022 cycles. Candidates may make changes to their application structures by registering with the agency site, i.e. ugcnet.nta.ac.in.Data was shared by  Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, President of UGC, regarding the extension of the latest web application data to May 30, 2022.

Steps for Application

  • Firstly visit the official website – ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

  • On the homepage, click on the link that reads, ‘Registration for UGC web -2022.’ (Direct link provided below)

  • Fill in the application form, and then transfer the documents.

  • Pay the applying fees and submit the form

  • transfer and take an output signal for future reference.

Major Changes

  •  Increased Application Fee: The NTA has increased the UGC NET application fee  General category candidates now need to pay INR 1100, GeneralEWS/OBCNCL need to pay INR 550 and SC /ST/PwD/Transgender category needs to pay INR 275 as an application fee. 

  • The number of subjects increased to 82: The UGC has increased the list of subjects of the UGC NET  to 82 by adding a new subject “Hindu Studies” 

  • Added Exam Center Cities: The UGC NET 2022 exam will be held in a total of 541 exam center cities. The 2021 UGC NET  exam was held in 239 cities.

  • Key Challenge Fee Reduction: The NTA has reduced the interim UGC NET 2022 answer key challenge fee from INR 1,000 to INR 200 per challenge.
