Solution:
Liverwort
In liverworts reduction occurs in the capsule. After meiosis spores are formed in the capsule and the spores germinate to form free living gametophytes.
Moss
In moss the zygote is formed by fertilisation of gametes.Zygote then develops into a sporophyte containing foot, seta and capsule. The sporophyte present in mosses is more elaborate than that found in the liverworts. The spores are found in capsule and the spores are formed after meiosis.
Fern
In ferns,The sporophytes contain sporangia. The sporangia produce spores by the process of meiosis in spore mother cells. The spores germinate to give rise to inconspicuous, small,free-living,photosynthetic thalloid gametophytes called prothallus.
Gymnosperm
Gymnosperms produce haploid microspores and megaspores. These two types of spores are formed within the sporangia formed on sporophylls. The cones containing microsporophylls and microsporangia are called microsporangiate or male cones or strobili. These microspores develop into male gametophytic generation which is highly reduced and possess only a limited number of cells. The cones containing megasporophylls or megasporangia are called macrosporangiate or female cones.
Angiosperms
In anthers pollen grains are produced as a result of meiosis. The female sex organ, pistil or carpel contain ovary with one to many ovules.Highly reduced female gametophytes present in the ovules are called embryo sacs.Embryo sac formation is occurs by meiosis.
