Ans. The difference between the sample estimate and the actual value of a population characteristic is referred to as sampling error. This type of error occurs when an observation is made from a population sample. By taking a larger sample, the magnitude of the sampling error can be reduced.

Non-sampling errors are more serious than sampling errors because sampling errors can be minimised by taking a larger sample, whereas non-sampling errors are difficult to minimise even with a large sample. Non-sampling errors can occur even in a Census. These include data acquisition errors, non-response errors, and sampling bias.
