Solution: All living organisms require water to survive owing to a variety of reasons. The human body is approximately 60% water, indicating how important water is to our lives. All metabolic processes occurring inside the body at a cellular level require water. Without these reactions, we would cease to survive. Water is also needed for transporting substances inside the body, and organisms develop different ways in which they could do the same. Complexity of the system by which substances are transported in organisms increases as they become more advanced. For humans, this circulatory system is absolutely essential for all other life processes to occur. Its main component, blood, has more than 90% water in its plasma. The importance of water lies in the fact that it is a universal solvent and plays a role in regulating the temperature and pH of organisms.
