AHM: Introduction
Agatha Harrison Memorial (AHM) fellowship is a one-year fellowship program with the Government of India at St. Antony’s College, Oxford (U.K.). This Programme can be extended based on the performance of the students and scholars who have specialized in Modern Indian Studies in subject fields like History, Economics and Political Science. Students should need to know that this fellowship is only planned for a young scholar, who is determined on pursuing an academic career. The tenure may be extended by one more year, depending upon the performance of the students at St. Antony’s College, Oxford (U.K.). The candidate is eligible for economy class air passage (both ways). The total amount awarded for the fellowship is £27,603/-( approx. Rs. 21.5 lakhs) per year. It is sufficient for one candidate to meet the expenditure.
AHM: Eligibility
AHM fellowship is based on candidate eligibility on several grounds.
Academic Qualifications:
- They must have 60% marks in PG.
- PhD degree with a specialization in Economics, History or Political science.
Apart from academic qualifications, the candidate needs to fulfil some other requirements too:
- Citizenship: Must be an Indian.
- Age: within the age group of 30-40 years
- Experience: Three years of teaching experience at UG or PG level.
AHM: Stipend Details and Benefits
The fellowship is only offered to bright candidates who want to achieve big in their life and AHM stands with those candidates. The stipend amount is 24,399 USD, Administration Charges 4347USD, Travel Allowances 984USD, Six High Table Dinner 751USD and College Lunches 2,662USD, therefore the total amount is 33,143USD.
Not this much even AHM allow their fellows given return allowance in economy class air travel.
While the term is that spouse is also applicable for air travel allowances only if they stay in the UK for a continuous period of one year and even the fellow is renewable for another year if the performance of the fellow is found to be satisfactory.
AHM: Application Process

- Apply for the fellowship on plain paper in prescribed Proforma with the passport size photo and fill in other details
- Applicants should need to assist with all the certificates.
- The application received after the last date will not be entertained
- Interview letters are sent only to a few candidates after their applications are scrutinized by the authorities.
- An employed person should send their application duly sponsored through their employe.

AHM: Selection Process
The selection process begins once the board published in names of candidates for an interview through the official website of an MHRD the selected fellows will also be intimated to their respective email IDs and the screening is done based on the candidate’s profile and past achievements, the interview the name of the successful candidate for an AHM (Agatha Harrison Memorial) fellowship will be announced on the MHRD websites and the decisions of the selection is final and cannot be changed.
AHM: Duration
AHM’s total fellowship slot is awarded every year. It is the initial duration of the fellow For 1-year and it may be extended for more than one year if the universities found the spouse/Fellows performance or skills are satisfactory to them. The universities provide fresh fellowships annually.

AHM: Terms and Conditions
- The decision of the selection committee is final
- The applicants should carry out their study/ research in the UK
- They must have completed their tertiary education in English medium only
- There are chances of disqualification of the candidate if the application is not fulfilled or submitted in time
