ABOUT

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bathinda (AIIMS Bathinda) is a public medical college and research university in Bathinda, Punjab, India.  It operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as one of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences. AIIMS Bathinda covers an area of approximately 177 acres and is surrounded by lush green parks. It became operational in 2019, one of six AIIMS to do so that year.

History

In November 2016, the foundation stone for AIIMS Bathinda was laid. AIIMS Bathinda was designed as a 750-bed medical institute on 177 acres of land, with 10 specialty departments, 11 super specialty departments, and 16 operating theaters. It is planned to have 100 medical college seats and 60 nursing college seats.  It became operational with the first batch of 50 MBBS students in 2019, making it one of six AIIMSs to open in 2019.  The outpatient department (OPD) was established in December 2019, the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) was named as its mentoring institution in August 2019, and Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh, former Director of RIMS Ranchi, was appointed director in March 2020.

Admissions

AIIMS Bathinda in Punjab accepts applications online. NEET-UG scores are used across the country to gain admission to AIIMS for MBBS. 50 undergraduate seats for MBBS. Applicants who meet the college’s cut-off score, as well as their board exam scores, will be considered for admission to the MBBS program. Students will also be subjected to a round of counseling.

 

The Application process:

  • Candidates seeking admission to AIIMS Bathinda must take the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (Undergraduate) NEET-UG.
  • Candidates must obtain a certificate of eligibility from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Punjab.
  • The admissions process is entirely online. Students must apply through the AIQ admissions and counseling process.

 

AIIMS Cut-Off

Applicants who wish to pursue their MBBS program at AIIMS Bathinda must meet the college’s cut-off. To be admitted to the institute, the applicant must average a score of 650. The total number of MBBS seats available at AIIMS Bathinda is 100, divided into General (Unreserved)/OBC/SC/ST. Approximately half of the seats are allocated to the unsold category, with the remainder allocated to the reserved category. The NEET entrance score cut-off ranges from 580 to 670.

Scholarships

  • Scholarships are awarded at AIIMS Bathinda based on students’ merit or economic circumstances. Scholarships are typically awarded at the start of the school year. Scholarships are awarded to students who excel academically. Scholarships are available at AIIMS Bathinda in Punjab under the following conditions:
  • Scholarships for Academic Excellence
  • Scholarships based on financial need (fee concession)
  • Merit-based national and international scholarships are available.
  • Aside from that, students can apply for scholarship programs such as the Central, Top, and Punjab scholarship programs.

Resources

  • AIIMS Bathinda is a 177-acre campus that houses 750 beds, 11 departments, and 16 operating rooms. The college has 100 seats reserved for medical students and 60 seats reserved for nursing students.
  • AIIMS Bathinda has a separate PG/UG for girls and boys, as well as Guest House facilities. The hostels provide all of the basic amenities that students require during their academic years to ensure a comfortable stay on campus.
  • Auditorium: The college has a 500-seat Auditorium on campus for celebrations, ceremonies, inaugurations, and other events.

Ragging and Tobacco-Free Campus: The college provides a Tobacco and Ragging-Free Campus for its students to provide a quality environment and peaceful living conditions on campus.
