Although Innisfree is only a place, it also represents the poet’s state of mind. The poet dreamt of escaping from the chaotic life of cities to Innisfree as it brings him more peace and has the elegance of nature. The place makes him nostalgic of the gentle sound of a lake washing off the shore and the linnets flying high under the open sky.
