Under the colonial rule British government make their own policies of foreign trade. British government made several restrictions for foreign trade. They made India a export surplus country but because of which India started lacking essential commodities. Also the export surplus are used by the British government to fulfill their Administrative expenses and to meet the needs of war fought by them. This leads to drain of India’s wealth.
