First of all, JAM is not a place where IIT is situated but it is JAM refers to Joint Admission test for Masters. It is an entrance exam for master courses and postgraduate courses in IIT. IIT JAM is applied for all Indian Institute of Technology branches including bhilai , Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kharagpur and Madras etc.

Which Tests are there in IIT JAM:

IIT JAM offers a variety of tests, A total of 7 tests are there in 2022 version of test series:

  1. Biotechnology

  2. Chemistry

  3. Economics

  4. Geology

  5. Mathematics

  6. Mathematical statistics

  7. Physics

IIT JAM qualified students can take admission in M.Sc. (2 – year), Joint M.Sc .- Ph.D., M.Sc. – Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other Post-Bachelors Degree Programmes at any of the above mentioned IITs.

More information:

  • IIT JAM is conducted by IIT Roorkee.

  • IIT JAM is a National Level Exam.

  • IIT JAM is conducted once a year.

  • IIT JAM is Computer Based Test which means its an online test.

  • There are a total number of  6 lakh approx applicants every year.

  • Its duration is 3 hours.

  • A total of 60 questions are there.

  • Colleges that accept IIT JAM scores IITs, NITs, IISc Bangalore and CFTIs.

What is the eligibility criteria of IIT JAM?

  1. The students applying for IIT JAM must be having a bachelor’s degree.

  2. If a student is promoted without a marksheet then they must submit a promotion certificate provided by their respective institutions.

  3. Foreigners with indian bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply.

All these conditions must be satisfied and applicants themselves are responsible for proving that they satify the minimum required qualification and eligible for giving the admission test.

The admitting institutions have the sole right to cancel  the admission of candidates which are entitled to programme other than for which they were meant to be admitted.
