Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is the top-ranked public central university in India. JNU is a world-renowned center for teaching and research. Accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with grade points of 3.91(on the scale of 4). National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) has also recognised JNU as 2nd most excellent university among all universities in India. JNU also has been recognised as “University of Excellence” by the University Grant Commission (UGC).

Jawaharlal Nehru University was founded in 1969 by an act of parliament. It was named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister. The university offers undergraduate, post-graduate, doctoral courses and also diploma/certificate courses in various fields like art, science, computer applications, engineering, law, mass communication and management.

Scholarships 

  • Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships: for students whose parent’s/guardian’s income is under or does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum. Scholarship payments will be governed by the guidelines in effect at the University at the time. 

  • Tendulkar Scholarship: This scholarship of Rs.400/- per month is offered to two students from different Centers of the School of Social Sciences on a rotating basis for a term of two years.

  • Prof. Nurul Hasan Scholarship: For second year M.A/M.Sc/MCA students with highest CGPA in first year of Rs.1500/- p.m. for a period of one year. It contains two scholarships, one for social science subject students and the other for science subject students.

  • Ford Foundation Scholarships: with value of Rs. 700/- p.m. for students of M.A programme of the school of International Studies which is limited in nature.

  • Prof. Ramesha Rao Scholarship and Travel Grant: The award is for a period of ten months at a monthly rate of Rs.3,000/- per year, with a travel grant of Rs.30,000/- to an M.Phil/Ph.D student for presenting a paper at an international conference, seminar, or other event in the field of cancer biology.

JNU Admission 2021

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts a computer-based test called JNU Entrance Exam (JNUEE). but , for some courses the admission is also based on merit.

Like Delhi university or any other education institute JNU also has reserve seats for students who belong to different categories as per the government’s reservation policy.
