Know Your Intelligence with National Aptitude Test

The Ministry of education, Government of India (GOI) has established a National testing agency (NTA) as an independent and self-sustained premier testing organization registered under the Society’s Registration/Login Act 1860. NTA has recently launched the National Aptitude Test exam (NAT) program for all the students under the age group of 13-25 years. This test will help students to analyze their aptitude and choose the right career path. It is a four-level test. The mode of the test is online-based (internet-based).



The test will focus on assessing the current aptitude of the students and also guide them to learn new skills for a bright future like – technical skills, creativity, emotional intelligence (EQ), analytical thinking, growth mindset, decision making, interpersonal communication, and adaptability but these abilities were deficient in about 70% school pass outs. NTA firmly believes that the right candidates joining the best institution will give India her demographic dividend.

Who Can Apply For National Aptitude Test (NAT):

Level 1 – Classes VIII to X

Level 2 – Classes X to XII

Level 3 – Graduation 

Level 4 – Post Graduation

NAT Exam Pattern

NAT Eligibility Criteria –

The NAT is conducted at four levels as per the age group of the students. Check the important eligibility criteria of NAT given below:


  • Students in the age group of 13 to 25 years of age can apply for the NAT exam.


  • There are no other specific eligibility criteria to apply for the National Aptitude Test.


  • Students from any state-recognized CBSE/ICSE board can appear for the National Aptitude Test.

Key Features –

1. Domain 1 – Critical Reading Ability: To identify main theme/key messages   reading comprehension and written expression.


2. Domain 2 – Numerical Ability: To think logically through numbers, with the relation between numbers or number series by finding hidden code.


3. Domain 3 – Abstract Reasoning: The observation abilities that enable one to quickly notice accurate details in graphical presentations.


4. Domain 4 – Analytical Reasoning: It is the ability to critically analyze the given information to draw a valid conclusion.


5. Domain 5 – Spatial Ability: It is the ability to envision shapes and structures against dimensions. Therefore, the ability to think in space.


6. Domain 6 – Finding Irregularities: The simplest approach to identifying irregularities in the data is to flag the data points that depart from the common statistical properties of distribution, including mean, median, mode, and quintiles.


7. Domain 7 – Verbal Ability: It is the ability to recognize concepts hidden in words.


8. Domain 8 – Data Interpretation: It is the ability to quickly and accurately locate differences in both words and numbers.


9. Domain 9 – Physical and Mechanical Analysis: It is the ability of understanding and applying of natural and mechanical forces that are prevalent in the real world.

NAT Admit Card

The NTA will conduct the NAT exam (National Aptitude Test) for all the students who successfully registered for this internet-based exam and can attempt the exam from their place. The candidates have to log in to start their exam at the officially prescribed time.

Candidates would be given the choice of choosing the slot of the test as per their availability. Since it is an online-based test, no NAT Admit Card 2022 will be provided.

NAT Result

Once the online test is complete, the NTA will declare the result of the successful candidate. Test scores are only suggestive of a student’s potential, parents should NOT use these marks to choose subjects for the students. NAT scores obtained are suggestive and should not be used as the only deciding factor for choosing subjects.

NAT helps the students to acquire knowledge and skills beyond academics.
