‘Importance of Outdoor Games’

Our performance in Rio Olympics has told us that we do not pay enough attention to athletics and outdoor games. It is time to revise our attitude. Sports should be an essential part of a school’s daily routine. To make sports a part of the daily routine of school, we must create awareness among parents, teachers, students, and the government of India in the following ways.
Everyone in our country prioritizes education over sports. It is because parents think it will be difficult for their children to sustain themselves in sports over a long period. So they encourage their children to focus on education over sports even if students have skills in particular sports. Students take up their parent’s advice and bury their interests in sports to pursue studies. Because of this, India loses valuable sportspersons who can make history for India in sports.
Government must identify talented students in sports by ensuring them a guaranteed government job. It will allow parents to let their children pursue a career in sports. If this happens, India will rock in the Olympics.
