A report is a short, concise piece of writing that looks into an event that happened in the past. A message contains facts and information about the event or incident. It is a description of the event through direct observation and can also have the reporter’s suggestions or recommendations.
Types of Report Writing.
- A Newspaper Report- A report which contains a description of the event reported for the newspaper.
- A Magazine Report- A report which contains a description of the event reported for a magazine.
Important things to remember when writing a report.
- The report is written keeping a specific audience in mind.
e.g. The audience viewing a magazine report will be different from the audience viewing a newspaper magazine.
- It should be written in a passive voice.
- It should be well structured and coherent.
- Use of the given factual information.
- Reporters Investigation of the information.
- A well-formed conclusion.
- Reporters should use an indirect voice.
- It should be written in the past tense.
- It should have a good title.
- It should be short and precise.
