Answer: Reproduction refers to a biological process by which young ones/offspring are produced from the parent body. The young ones are similar to their parents.

It is essential for all organisms because-

  1. These young ones grow and mature to form new offspring. So, through reproduction, there is continuity of life i.e., birth, adulthood, and death.

  2. It enables the continuity of species on Earth.

  3. The organisms will be unable to exist for a long time and may get extinct in the future in absence of reproduction.
