The NMC Act of 2019, in chapter IV Point 14 has mentioned, “There shall be a uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate super-speciality medical education in all medical institutions which are governed by the provisions of this Act:

Provided that the uniform National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to the undergraduate medical education shall also be applicable to all medical institutions governed under any other law for the 

time being in force.


As per the orders, only NEET will be conducted all over India for admission in medical courses for an undergraduate degree. Admissions in all Medical institutions such as AIIMS, JIPMER, MGIMS, MU, GGSIPU, and other similar institutions will be done through NEET, based on All India Rankings.

Undergraduate level medical entrance exams are conducted by NTA(National Testing Agency), as mentioned earlier. Out of all, NEET is the top medical exam in India.


In this article, we will discuss NEET UG exams 2022 and NEET PG exams 2022 in detail. 

NEET UG – Top Medical Exam in India 2022

For the undergraduate level, all the other examinations like JIPMER, GGSIPU-CET, etc were discarded and NEET was made as the primary and only medical exam in India.

For various medical courses, a candidate has to first clear the NEET examination.

  • Name of the Examination– National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test UG

  • Conduction Body– National Testing Agency

  • Level Of Examination– National Level 

  • Frequency of examination– Once a year in the first week of May.

  • Qualification Criteria– Candidate must pass 12th class with subjects PCB (Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Biotechnology) and English.

The minimum required percentage for different categories is as follows:

UR- 50%

OBC/SC/ST- 40%

PWD- 45%

  • Eligibility Criteria– Minimum age requirement of the candidate is 17 years old. There is no upper age limit for the same.

Any candidate from India, NRIs, and Foreign National candidates are also eligible for the examination.

  • Mode of Conduction– Offline mode, for 3 hours in 13 languages.

  • Date for examination– 2nd May 2022 (Tentative) 

NEET PG – Top Medical Exam in India 2022

In the case of Post-graduate admissions, there’s no such compulsion of the NEET examination. AIIMS, GGSIPU, and other AIIMS like institutions can conduct their examinations for admission in the same. But, NEET is preferred by most of the candidates because NEET is the top medical exam in India.

  • Name of the examination– National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test PG

  • Conduction BodyNBEMS (National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences)

  • Level of examination– National Level

  • Frequency of examination– Once a year, in December or January

  • Qualification Criteria– MBBS degree from an MCI(now NMC) recognized institution based on given cut-offs.

  • Mode of Conduction– Online mode for 3 hours in the English language.

  • Date for examination– 12 March 2022
