Electrophiles (atom, molecule) are electron deficient species and can accept an electron pair from electron rich species.

Ex: carbocation & carbonyl compounds.

Nucleophiles (atom, molecule are electron rich species and donates electron pair to electron deficient species.

Ex: carbanions, water, ammonia, cyanide ion etc.
