Solution: Synapse is the point of contact between terminal branches of neurons that is the axon of one neuron with the dendrite of another neuron.
Two neurons connect with each other with help of synapse, this can be electrical or chemical synapse.
Chemicals are released at the axonal end as a result of electric impulse.
These chemicals are known as neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters cross the synapse and similar electric impulses are generated in the dendrite of successive neurons.
Hence it can be concluded that synapse allows delivery of impulses from one neuron to another.
During the conduction of impulse neurotransmitters are diffused from the previous neuron towards the dendrite part of the next neuron.
Chemo-receptors get stimulated and generation of signals takes place.
