Solution: ‘Value neutrality is a specific or distinct type of objectivity required in social research. According to Max Weber, sociologists needed to be objective in their understanding of the subject matter of sociology because social interactions included subjective human meanings, values, sentiments, prejudices, and ideals. Through empathic understanding, a sociologist has to investigate and record people’s perspectives and personal convictions in a neutral manner. That is, she had to describe rather than assess or imply her or his own ideas to others’ comprehension. Social scientists, like everyone else, were once a part of society. As a result, the concept of objectivity is regarded as unique.
