Solution: Mammals and birds have double circulatory systems, oxygenated and deoxygenated blood remains separate. As we know that mammals and birds are warm-blooded organisms, they need to maintain their body temperature for their survival and they need sufficient oxygen supply and an efficient circulatory system. organisms use oxygen to oxidize their food which provides energy, Heat that energy heat is used by organisms to maintain their homeostasis. thus it is beneficial for mammals and birds to separate oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. If oxygenated and deoxygenated blood were not separated, then there would have mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood which would decrease the oxygen supply to the tissues.so, separation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood is necessary in birds and mammals.

Background –Mammals and birds have double circulatory system, which separates oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. They have four chambered heart, two upper chambers atrium and two lower chambers ventricles.
